Briers make major investment in Dicom Paal


When a waste management company in Staffordshire needed to invest in machinery to grow their business, they opted for two new robust Paal balers from Dicom which offered flexibility and reliability.

TAFFORDSHIRE-BASED waste management company, William MBriers & Son (Tamworth) Limited, a long established Dicom customer, have just taken delivery of two new Paal balers, to


supplement their existing Paal Konti 275F. These comprise:


1. A Konti 275G to cope with their increased volumes of recyclables going through their material export facility, and


2. An HTR 425 twin ram baler with plastic strapping at the Briers material recycling facility. The new Konti 275G is the first Paal baler


in the country to feature the new stamper and knife designs which will be standard on the 2014 Konti H series. These new features significantly improve


energy efficiency and hence significantly reduce energy costs while increasing the throughput. In order to grow their business further,


Briers needed the flexibility to be able to tender for all types of waste contracts and so they needed a machine capable of baling just about anything. The robust HTR425 twin ram baler fitted the bill perfectly.


The patented telescopic tunnel design gives


Briers the throughput needed for its MRF residual waste, while the plastic strapping means operating costs will be minimised. Once baled and wrapped, material is


shipped to its partner’s R1 Energy from Waste facility in the Netherlands. The MRF &MEF manager at Briers, Simon


Rooke, commented: “This has been a large undertaking which has taken a lot of planning to ensure that both facilities selected the right specification balers and that both facilities continued to operate throughout the project. “We are delighted that the whole process


went like clockwork and that no processing time was lost.” Simon added that: “Having operated the
