Perfect panographs
No, we’re not making up words: a panograph is an image created from lots of individual shots of a location or person. This technique is particularly suited to locations you love, as you’ll need to spend a while there taking the original shots! Choose a location and don’t move your feet from the spot – zoom your camera’s lens to isolate a detail and start capturing sections of the scene. Remember that the more pictures you take, the more time you’ll have to spend assembling later on. Ensure your pictures overlap – and be sure to choose manual mode so your exposure settings don’t change as you take the pictures. To assemble your image, use Photoshop to adjust every image so it’s smaller than the original. Slowly build up your new image in a blank canvas, adding the images and making each one slightly transparent so you can see how each image connects to the previous one. Once you’re done, flatten the image and voilà! A beautiful panograph.
