August. He is a student at Coronado High School in Colorado Springs. “Absolutely, it was a tough decision for me,” Snyder said. “I knew I was

going to be in a great environment and I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to train in Colorado Springs. My main goal is to win multiple NCAA titles and Olympic gold medals. I know this decision is going to help me reach those goals. Everybody has been really supportive and that’s helped a ton. This was definitely the right decision. I know you have to make certain sacrifices to be a great wrestler and this was a sacrifice I had to make.” Snyder has committed to wrestle collegiately for Ohio State and he plans

to head to Columbus next year. Athletes from the highly successful Ohio Regional Training Center also train at Ohio State. “I’m excited to go to Ohio State and try to help them win an NCAA team

title,” Snyder said. “They also have some great wrestlers at the Ohio RTC like (2013 World Team members) Tervel Dlagnev, J.D. Bergman and Keith Gavin. Those guys are really good – it’s going to be a big challenge for me to face them in the room. Ohio State is a perfect fit for me.” Snyder trains with past NCAA champions Dustin Kilgore and Jon Reader. “Kyle is successful because of his focus on being the best,” U.S.

Assistant National Coach Brandon Slay said. “He has an extra hard work ethic that coincides with his dreams. He has a mature, no excuses attitude that will help him succeed at anything he sets his mind to.” Snyder was an interested observer this year when wrestling waged a seven-month fight to keep its place in the Olympic Games. “I had a lot of faith that wrestling would stay in the Olympics,” he said.

“There was no time that I thought my future was being taken away. I was really positive about it. I was obviously really excited when they voted for wrestling to stay in the Olympics.” Snyder also plans to make a run at repeating as Junior World champion

in 2014. “I’m excited to have that opportunity again,” he said. “I want to take advantage of my time at the OTC and just continue to improve.”
