You are lucky enough to have had an EM-1 at your disposal for a while, as the camera merges the Micro Four Thirds and Four Thirds systems. Those of us with Four Thirds legacy lenses are keen to know what the focus performance is like. James Parkin
When I shoot motorsport I rarely rely on any form of focus tracking so you can imagine my surprise when I gave continuous autofocus a burst at the launch of the E-M1 in Ireland. I shot a horse cantering through water and out of bursts of seven to nine frames ALL were sharp and in focus. I was so impressed I decided it needed further review so I took it with Four Tirds and Micro Four Tirds lenses to the Manx International rally and really put the autofocus through some tests.
My mum always told me you have to be really smart to be a good liar and I’m not clever… so I just tell the truth! In multiple shooting conditions the E-M1 delivered, giving me a hit rate of more than 95 per cent. Check out my results and thoughts here. I’m impressed.
