The winner received 20 Red Carpet passes for the United Airlines Red Carpet Lounge, second place received 15 passes and third received 10 passes. Since it was such a great success, USA Weightlifting decided to make it bigger and better! Starting Oct. 1-Dec. 2, 2013, USA Weightlifting will be conducting the same challenge, but this time the prizes have gotten better! The top-three clubs will be recognized and rewarded by United Airlines prizes. First place will receive a free United domestic round trip ticket; second place will be 20 United Red Carpet Club passes; and third place will be 15 United Red Carpet Club passes.

TALENT IDENTIFICATION SESSION By: Beau Brooks
On July 25, USA Weightlifting held its first Open Talent Iden- tification Session in hopes to locate potential weightlifting talent. The event took place in Cincinnati, Ohio, at the 2013 National Weightlifting Championships venue.
During the weeks prior to the event, USA Weightlifting intern Beau Brooks was responsible for event communications and recruiting by contacting local universities, CrossFit boxes and gymnastics gyms.
As the event neared, interested athletes began registering for the Talent Identification Session with the excitement of lifting in front of Olympic coaches in hopes to begin a career that could lead to the Olympic Games.
Athletes had the opportunity to lift in front of and receive helpful feedback from National Team Coach Zygmunt Smal-
cerz and USA Weightlifting Director of Coaching Education Michael Conroy. This was a terrific advantage in attracting participants to the event, and many took it as a great oppor- tunity to showcase their talents.
Thirty athletes participated at the first Open Talent Iden- tification Session, which USA Weightlifting saw as a huge success. The session gave the athletes exposure, includ- ing Ohio native Brandon Killin, who was invited for a short training camp at the Olympic Training Center to lift with Smalcerz.
Due to the enormous success of the inaugural Open Talent Identification Session, USA Weightlifting plans to incorporate it into future National Championships event schedules.
