JD Sports adds accent lighting WOW factor with innovative LED tape from Tamlite lighting.


JD Sports needed to find new ways of


showcasing their wide variety of trainers in a novel and eye­catching way. The retailer opted for new LED technology that would create a focal point for their large Perspex display cases which house the different types of sports shoes that they have on offer. They chose Flex Strip from Starlite, a


brand from Tamlite lighting, to provide this feature lighting within the JD Sports store in the Bullring, Birmingham. Flex Strip’s bright, white lighting precisely outlines the ‘flight cases’ that are Perspex cabinets which display the shoes. The LED strip has also been used to outline a suspended triangular ‘exploded crown’ ceiling feature, creating a distinctive style motif that helps to set the tone in the JD Sports store. This eye­catching feature LED lighting


strip is now in over 20 JD Sports stores throughout the UK and parts of the European continent. DCM Electrical carried out the installation and they are expecting up to 30,000 hours lifespan, so industry professionals consider it as a ‘fit and forget’ fixture.
