CDW PRESENTS PROGRAMME HIGHLIGHT
One of the best parts of the festival is the CDW Presents programme, featuring specially commissioned design projects and street spectacles prominently displayed around Clerkenwell.
Architectural practice Studio Weave has created Smith, a pavilion formed from fibre-cement panels pays homage to Clerkenwell’s heritage as a home to smiths throughout history. A group of contemporary smiths and craftsmen will take up residence in the
pavilion and host workshops and demonstrations throughout the festival.
London-based architects Lianne Russ and Phil Henshaw of russ + henshaw are collaborating with Turkishceramics on installation Tile Mile at St John’s Gate, which looks to the past and future. Parallel or infinity mirrors placed in the historic arches will reflect both the vaulted ceilings and intricately tiled floorscape, creating the illusion of an infinite space.
