• Pain Management. All courses are available for CME
credit and ethics hours. Policyholders who complete a 2.5-hour CME course may be eligible for a 3-percent premium discount (up to $1,000 per course). Two courses per year can be taken for the discount. To deliver courses through the new CME site, TMLT will charge a fee to off- set the cost of the online catalog. The prices are:

Gov. Rick Perry appointed two members of TMA’s Council on Legislation to govern- ment positions. He appointed Austin oph- thalmologist Dawn Buckingham, MD, to the State Board for Educator Certification, which develops certification and continuing educa- tion requirements and standards of conduct for public school teachers. And, the Senate Nominations Committee approved the reap- pointment of Beaumont anesthesiologist Raymond Callas, MD, to the Jefferson and Orange County Board of Pilot Commissioners The board is responsible for the regulation of shipping in local waterways and ports.
The American College of Physicians (ACP) honored John I. Hughes, MD, gastroenter- ologist and associate medical director of clinical academic affairs and affiliations for the Kelsey-Seybold Clinic in Houston, with advancement to mastership. He is the only Houston physician and one of only 47 in the nation honored as a 2013 “Master of ACP.”
Mark Kline, MD, chair of pediatrics at Baylor College of Medicine and physician-in-chief at Texas Children’s Hospital, received the Hous- ton-Galveston Schweitzer Fellows Program’s
first annual Humanitarian Award. The program honored Dr. Kline for his extensive efforts to address pediatrics HIV/AIDS in Sub- Saharan Africa and global health. He is the founder of Baylor’s International Pediatric AIDS Initiative at Texas Children’s Hospi- tal in Houston.
