Ashley Cordova, daughter of the Academy-Award-winning American film director Stanislas Cordova, was found dead in a vacant Chinatown warehouse on Thursday. The cause of death has not yet been determined. She was 24.

Ashley Cordova was a classical pianist and former child prodigy. She made her Carnegie Hall debut at age 12, playing Ravel’s Piano Concerto in G Major with the Moscow Philharmonic Orchestra. Ms. Cordova retreated from music at age 14, declining further recitals, tours and public appearances.

She was raised at The Peak, her father’s private Adirondack estate, which served as the setting for many of Mr. Cordova’s films including his 1979 psychological thriller, “Thumbscrew”.

The Cordova family could not be reached for comment, but fans of the filmmaker are welcome to join the memorial at the Random House stand (F305) today, Monday 15th April, at 5.30pm. To follow them:
