The total volume of foreign claims was up by 24%
in 2012 against 2011 but the number was still no higher than the volume seen in 2010.
However, the bad news in the UK Retail sector has continued into 2013 as we have already witnessed the demise of major High Street names like Blockbuster, Jessops, HMV, and Republic. On the foreign/exporting side other well known names have also failed including Virgin France and Atari Inc. We are sure there will be many more equally well known names across all trade sectors and countries that will fail in 2013. It is our job at Euler Hermes to identify these risks and with the benefit of our unique data and proprietary information share this knowledge with our customers to ensure they can grow their business safely and securely.
