It’s the little details that make a great MIPIM party so full marks must go to L+G which Diary understands, convened a special board meeting to ensure the choice of music was just right. We hear a certain chairman – rocking the Man from Del Monte look last night – abused his casting vote for the final selection, but given the packed dance floor we feel it was an acceptable use of the authoritarian management style.
REELING IN THE YEARS We made it. The last day of MIPIM is upon us and thoughts, before long, will turn to plans for next year’s event. Perish the thought. But what might a MIPIM of the far future look like? ELECTRIC FRIENDS Continuing the futuristic
theme, the Krasnador stand is always a MIPIM highlight and this year excelled itself. There is a motor racing driving game of course, an ice hockey shoot-out net and, highlight of highlights, a talking robot. It chats, it blinks and it moves. Well – more of a shudder. But Diary has chatted to less responsive humans in Caffé Roma, so we won’t complain.
THAT’S NOT MY NAME Rreef, or should we say Deutsche Asset and Wealth Management has completed its well- publicised rebrand and was out in force at MIPIM. Rebrands are costly exercises and Deutsche bank is keen that people respect its new identity. Deutsche Asset and Wealth Management may be a bit of a mouthful, but the company has apparently told staff not to stand for anyone trying to abbreviate it – so there’s no DAWM dawning.
