YOUR COACHING MATTERS You may have noticed your magazine has undergone some changes, and for some of you this may be the first time you have seen the magazine. If so, we hope you enjoy it!
In response to survey results from last season’s subscribers to Coaching Matters, we listened and we applied the changes. It was pleasing to see that your overall opinion of the magazine was that you found it to be a useful tool for your coaching.
It was decided that everyone would benefit from reading the magazine, so from here on we are sending it out to everybody involved in coaching within the RFL. We really value your input and there are many ways you can get involved. Send us your news: if something is happening at your club that would be of interest to the coaching community, let us know! We are keen to promote coach development to make sure that coaches are aware of opportunities open to them. If your club would like to be featured on this page as the Sheffield Eagles are below, or if you want to be considered for Club Call or anything else coaching related then please get in touch

EAGLES LAUNCH PROGRAMME
A Coach Development programme was launched at the end of January by the Sheffield Eagles at Don Valley Stadium.
The coaches who attended were given coaching resources in the shape of a skills DVD and booklet.
Eagles and Ireland Head Coach Mark Aston along with Scotland International and Eagles first-teamer Andy Henderson chatted to aspiring coaches about the new programme, which is designed to up-skill the coaching workforce as a whole. Members of the Community and Performance Department were on-hand to offer advice and guidance.
The event, which was recorded by Premier Sports TV, the first of 12 monthly workshops held by the club. The aim of these workshops is to develop local coaches, or those interested in becoming involved in Rugby League coaching.
Additional coach development opportunities, such as observing club coaching sessions, a community club skills matrix that offers guidance and support to coaches working with young players at different ages, and coaching mentors, will be available as part of the programme.
For more information, or to book a place on one of the workshops, contact Sheffield Eagles Community and Performance Manager Darren Higgins on 0114-324 0692.
