As we celebrate the 20th Anniversary of Trainers Warehouse, I thought it might be fun to share some of our historic moments – milestones, learning points, and laughs.

In 2004, my youthful but 70-year-old father, founder of Trainers Warehouse,


insisted that he wanted to sell an oversized name badge so that older training attendees would have an easier time seeing the names of fellow participants. He suggested that we create a 5" x 7" name tag. In our merchandising meeting, Edie nixed the idea, countering that she would never feel comfortable pinning such a huge name tag to her chest.


After rounds of debate, we agreed that a better solution might be a handheld whiteboard. Our customers, upon seeing these big “Icebreaker Paddles” quickly told us they liked our “Quick Answer Boards!” In fact, they remain a classroom favorite today (see Answer Boards below)! As for those oversized name badges, they never saw the light of day.
