The U.S. Olympic Team Trials for Airgun ultimately came down to a hard-fought finish. The Trials were conducted in two parts: the first was held in December 2011 at the Civilian Marksmanship Pro- gram (CMP) South Marksmanship Center in Anniston, Ala., while the second took place in February at the CMP north location at Port Clinton, Ohio. The two athletes from each discipline who fin- ished with the best combined scores were nominated to the 2012 U.S. Olympic Team. National Coaches praised the competition, noting that the talent pool was deeper than 2008 and competition was fierce. Four athletes were nominated to the U.S. Olympic Team and two point-nominees earned bids in their second events.
“I’m just glad to be nominated to the Olympic Team. We’ve upped our training this quad and I’m ex- cited to get to London. You try not to go into a defense and hold onto your lead. I just kept on working and shot the best I could every day.”
