Several of U.S. Figure Skating’s top athletes launched their 2012‒13 campaigns close to home with prom- ising results.

U.S. bronze medalist Agnes Zawadzki held off U.S. junior champion Gracie Gold to claim the title. It was Zawadz- ki’s first international senior triumph. Zawadzki led by 5.87 points after


the short program but hit a snag in her free skate to Gershwin’s “Rhapsody in Blue.”


“It wasn’t a perfect program, but I felt like it was better than [my free skates] last year,” Zawadzki told ice- network.com. “I didn’t let my mistakes rattle me, and I kept
