Jeanne Daprano (W75) is a walking billboard for what represents masters track and field. She is well known around the community both for her smile and for the records she has set. And there are plenty of both.
During both the 2012 indoor and outdoor track and field seasons, American and world records from Daprano were almost as common as her positive disposition. It is for these reasons Daprano was named Masters Track & Field Athlete of the Year.
The results more than justify Daprano’s selection for the award. In 2012 she set a total of five world age-group records and won two gold medals and one silver medal at the World Indoor Championships in Jvaskyla, Finland. To help understand the strength of Daprano’s season, the mile world record she set at the USA Indoor Championships of 7:13.51 demolished the previous mark by more than 50 seconds.
She is typically the first to cross the finish line and the first to speak a kind word to her fellow competitors. With the attitude and ability that parallels masters track and field, she has no intentions of slowing down any time soon.
