The Hall of Fame Cleary ripped off

It’s normally an expen- sive bottle of Sauvignon Blanc that you’ll fi nd- Mortgage Introducer editor Sarah Davidson holding. But here she is modelling a £29 bottle of what is essentially water. Or rather to be Precise, XIKAR’s Propylene Gly- col Solution as purchased by Alan Cleary. “I feel like I was robbed,” a miff ed Cleary told

the HoF. “It’s for my humidor at home. You need to keep the cigars moist but you can’t just use tap water. I could have probably bought it online for a fi ver but as I was in London I thought I’d go into the Davidoff shop. I nearly balked at the price but there was a queue of people forming and I didn’t want to look a mug.” For those wanting to know how it works, appar-

ently the distilled water evaporates quickly and creates humidifi cation fl uctuations. XIKAR’s pro- prietary mix of PG Solution is calculated to match the water absorption rate with the rate at which PG biodegrades, resulting in a humidor that will not over saturate with PG. So now you know.

Waxing lyrical

And so to the annual Intermediary Mortgage Lenders Annual dinner at London’s posh Gibson Hall located in the heart of the City. Hosted by 80’s icon Ruby Wax she soon had the

room in “roars” of laughter talking about all the acronyms in everyday mortgage industry use. T ings deteriorated when Council of Mort- gage Lenders’ director general Paul Smee and Paragon Mortgages’ managing director John Heron reduced to boyish giggles, aſt er Wax eff ec- tively off ered Heron a quickie – talk about going fi shing – ed.

Old Blue Eyes is back

Lea Karasavvas, director at Prolific Mortgage Finance, sings his way onto the this month’s red carpet following a more than prolific performance at the Mortgageforce Annual Conference and Awards last month.

As our exclusive snap shows the mortgage industry’s very own Ol’ Blue Eyes was more than happy to chirp out his version of the Stone Roses’ Fools Gold as part of the evenings Karaoke M-Factor entertainment. Singing lyrics like I’m no clown I won’t back down, I don’t need you to tell me what’s going down the HoF can see why it was such an obvious choice for the London-based broker. “These boots were made for walking,” Karasavvas tried to sing. “The marquis de sade don’t wear no boots like these. Gold’s just around the corner; Breakdown’s coming up round the bend.” “It was a supertriffic performance,”

MI editor and judge Sarah Davidson said after the performance. “I certainly didn’t see Lea sinking and he definitely wasn’t weighing me down. 10 out of 10!”

Indeed. Karasavvas, the HoF salutes you.
