The University of St Andrews is located in the mediaeval coastal town of St Andrews. Steeped in history and set in a stunning location, we offer an unrivalled student experience which will set the scene for the rest of your life. St Andrews is approximately three miles long with University buildings interspersed throughout. The town really is our campus. It is a thriving, close-knit community with a population of 20,000 with 1:3 people connected with the University.

St Andrews is situated on the east coast of Scotland, 50 miles north of Edinburgh, and enjoys mild summer sunshine with up to 18 hours of daylight which can be spent enjoying the fantastic beaches in St Andrews. Winter evenings can be long and dark with students sheltering from the crisp frost or blustery rain in the many inviting coffee shops in town. St Andrews has less rainfall than the western parts of the country but is prone to strong winds blowing in off the North Sea.

There are regular flights to Scotland from London, Europe and international destinations with Edinburgh serving as our nearest international airport (one hour away).

St Andrews has access to excellent road and rail links which means students have the opportunity to travel throughout Scotland, the rest of the UK and Europe at low cost. Investigate travel opportunities at: www.travelinescotland.com

“ I came to Scotland with curiosity and a little bit of fear. At first, I did not understand what people were saying. However, there was so much support from the University that I soon felt part of the community. I participated in many events and traditions, gaining Academic Parents and enjoying the foam fight on Raisin Monday. I celebrated Halloween in the Sealife Aquarium and I voted in the election for the new Rector. So many fantastic experiences that I would never have had if I hadn’t been in St Andrews.”
