uilding upon the successes of Total Workplace Management which ran at London Olympia for seven years, The FM Event will focus on facilitated


networking, increasing knowledge-sharing and making new business connections, the three top priorities identified by the senior FM community. Produced by world-leading event organiser UBM Live, in association with the British Institute of Facilities Management (BIFM) and supported by the Facilities Management Association (FMA), The FM Event has been created to help address current concerns developing within FM along with helping to shape the future of the profession. The event will draw together thought leaders to debate current issues such as sustainability, internationalisation and career progression and up-skilling of FM professionals.


The FM Event is the premier facilities and estates networking event and will this year host a record number of exhibitors from across the industry. Providing the ideal platform for leading companies across the FM sector to showcase the latest products, services and innovations to the industry The FM Event this year will host some of the biggest names in UK industry. Exhibitors include Nestle UK Ltd, part of the world’s largest food and beverage company, Bauder Ltd, a leader in flat roof technology and innovation, global provider of office supplies and services, Office Depot and Grundon Waste Management, one of the UK’s leading suppliers of integrated waste management solutions, amongst many others.


Many exhibitors will be attending the FM Event for the first time, widening the scope and scale of the products and services on display, providing a unique opportunity for visitors and delegates to

meet with a breadth of suppliers from across the industry. Exhibitors participating for the first time this year include Parking & Enforcement Agency Ltd, LG Networks, Stannah Lift Services Limited and The PURE Water Company Ltd.


This year the FM Event will feature over 150 hours of live education that will help to address topical issues faced by those working in the FM sector, assisting decision makers by providing them with vital industry knowledge from keynote speakers along with a lively debate hosted by Facilities Management Journal (FMJ) and numerous panel sessions featuring leading facilities personnel.


The Networking Hub, a brand new feature for targeted networking will host breakfast, lunch and afternoon briefings from associations including BIFM, CIWM, RICS and FMA.


A highlight of the education programme will be the Facilities Management Journal (FMJ) topical debate. As the role of Educational Sponsor of The FM Event they will moderate a session around the UK’s faltering economy and how this has helped to redefine the role of Facilities Managers in recent years. The debate returns for a second year and will bring together leading professionals from across the sector to discuss the changing position of facilities within the work space.


Another popular feature is the Women


in Facilities Management (WiFM) Session. Taking place on the second day this will explore themes around the inclusive workplace and will be chaired by Julie Kortens, Head of Corporate Services, Channel 4 and Chairman of WiFM SIG. Additional keynote speakers include Bernard Amos, CEO, Hellistrat Management Services Ltd and Mandy Keepax, Head of FM – Offices, Store Cleaning, Waste & Pest Control, Marks &

Spencer who will give a detailed account on how to achieve zero waste to landfill, which formed part of the retail groups award winning Plan A initiative. Neil Usher, General Manager – Group Property, Rio Tinto hosts a session on workplace behavioural change for the digital era and Derrick Tate, Assistant Director, PWC Real Estate Advisory will discuss commercial structures in FM. The FM Event is produced in association with the British Institute of Facilities Management (BIFM) who will host two panel sessions within the education programme. Liz Kentish, Deputy Chair of BIFM will moderate a session on Employability and the FM skill set whilst Ashley Rogers, Chair of Members Council BIFM will look at vacant property within the building cycle.


This year The FM Event will be


co-located with the UK’s leading energy management event, Energy Solutions, which this year will host Lord Sebastian Coe KBE as its keynote speaker and Building Services – The CIBSE Conference and Exhibition; introducing the added benefit of uniting a diverse audience from FTSE 100 and 250 companies and leading public sector organisations. Launching this year, the Global Security Summit will also be co-located, offering a full programme on issues affecting the security industry including challenges for global organisations and the role of technology and smarter working in corporate security.
