along with area hotels, DMCs, attractions, and other members of the hospitality commu- nity, has committed to preserving Cancun’s natural assets. The CVB has also recently
launched a project that gives groups the opportunity to neutralize, and even lower, the environmental footprint of their events. After calculating a meeting’s impact in CO2 tons, groups can then neutralize that impact with the purchase of carbon credits. This program not only benefits local conservation efforts, but also helps to promote the development and protection of local Mayan communities.
