GLOBAL LOGISTICS services provider Ceva Logistics has signed a memorandum of strategic co-operation with Shang- hai’s Shine-Link International Logistics Co. The agreement will see the two companies explore ways of collaborating on Cus- toms clearance and bonded logistics services in China.


GE CAPITAL AVIATION Services, the commercial aircraft leasing and financing arm of GE, has delivered a leased B737-300SF (Special Freighter) to new customer Northern Air Cargo, as part of the carrier’s fleet expansion programme.


JAPAN’S ANA GROUP carried 43,592 tons of interna- tional cargo in May, up by 7.1 percent on the same month of 2011. Cargo carried on domestic services rose by 5.6 per- cent year-on-year to 36,260 tons.


EMIRATES Airline is grow- ing its route network with the introduction of three new des- tinations in the next six months – in addition to the 12 new routes already announced as being launched this year. On 1 November, Emirates


will inaugurate its fifth Aus- tralian destination with the start of four times a week B777-300ER flights to Ade- laide. The frequency is expected to rise to daily on 1 February 2013. The airline also plans to upgrade its cur- rent double-daily Perth service to a triple-daily operation from 1 March 2013.


The French city of Lyon


will be added to the Emirates network from 5 December with a five times a week A340- 500 service, and a daily A330-200 service to Warsaw is set to launch on 6 February 2013. The carrier has already


launched ten new destinations in 2012, while Erbil and Washington will join the route network on 12 August and 12 September respectively. HH Sheikh Ahmed bin


Saeed Al Maktoum, chairman and chief executive of Emi- rates Airline, stated: “Emirates is currently in a concentrated and sustained period of global


expansion,” noting that “the addition of Adelaide to our network and the boost to our Perth operations demonstrates our commitment to invest- ment and growth in our Australian operations”.


He said that the improved


French service was in response to “acute demand for our ser- vices to and from this market”, adding that the new Warsaw routeing was an “exciting push into this region of Europe”.

Panalpina adds competence and supply chain centres


PANALPINA has established four new Logistics Compe- tence Centers (LCCs), in Prague, Singapore, Buenos Aires and New Jersey, to pro- vide support for its teams in the surrounding regions. Kerry Elby, global head of


logistics solutions and respon- sible for the LCCs of the Switzerland-based enterprise, explains the thinking behind their creation: “Our Logistics Competence Centers unite


logistics know-how, industry- specific experience and the best available tools and plat- forms.” Elby pointed out: “They


have been designed so that standard processes and proce- dures are integrated into all of Panalpina’s logistics opera- tions, allowing customers to have the confidence of experi- encing consistency and transparency globally.” While the main focus of


the LCCs is on warehousing, Panalpina has also created a new Supply Chain Solutions Center in Frankfurt, dedicated to analysing customers’ supply chains and recommending ways for them to minimise inefficiencies. The new centres are all


about enhancing Panalpina’s long-term partnerships with its clients, the company said, in the process creating “win- win situations”.
