TULLY’S COFFEE®

THE TULLY’S COMMITMENT TO BUILDING COMMUNITY

One of the great things about coffee is how it brings us together. We celebrate every chance we have to connect with our family, our friends, and our neighbors.

That’s why we partnered with the Pomegranate Center to help build gathering spaces in communities across the country.

The Pomegranate Center is a leading nonprofi t devoted to community-generated design and development. They helped us create a grant program to build places where people can meet, linger, chat, and celebrate in their neighborhoods.

Last year, we were pleased to support the construction of four gathering places near the greater Seattle area: a community park in Kirkland, an artistic recreation area near Hunter Farm, an outdoor learning space on Mercer Island, and a community gathering space in a downtown alley in Sumner.

More recently, we awarded a service grant to Kimberly Conway of Northport, Ala., to build a neighborhood gathering place in Tuscaloosa County. Kimberly’s town was torn apart by tornadoes in April 2011. “I can’t wait to work with Tully’s and the Pomegranate Center to create a place that brings our community together,” Kimberly said. “It brings joy to my heart knowing there is a possibility I could help these people reassemble their lives even a little after this horrible devastation.”

Good luck with your gathering space, Kimberly. We can’t wait to visit!

Sumner Mainstreet Alley Project —

With a grant from Tully’s, the Pomegranate Center worked with citizens of Sumner, Wash., to transform a downtown alley into a community gathering space. The new alley draws crowds with a movable stage for performers, movable benches with built-in planters, and ornate wooden gateways with metal accents.
