Quality controlled

electroluminescence In todays increasingly competitive solar market manufacturers need to be able to stand by their product to ensure consumer confidence and future sales. Identifying defects at the production stage enables companies to have confidence in the product being sold. Dr. Michael Fuß and Volker Biemann of MBJ Solutions in Germany discuss how electroluminescence has the capacity to provide inspection along the entire manufacturing process.

E

lectroluminescence is coming of age and increasingly becoming a standard tool in module production lines.

To protect the manufacturers from customer complaints and indemnification electroluminescence inspection with an adequate image quality at the end of the production line is mandatory to observe and document the produced quality.

This ensures that the manufacturer will not be held responsible for problems beyond his control. But electroluminescence inspection can actually be used throughout the entire module production process; for incoming inspection of the solar cells and as a tool to observe and optimize the production process. The technology of electroluminescence uses an electrical power
