Welcome to Middlesex The programme


The welcome programme warmly welcomes new international students and has been designed to familiarise you with all aspects of living and studying in London and to provide you with the background information and practical skills you will need to get the most from your stay.


The programme also provides you with the opportunity to meet other students, make new friends and have fun and we highly recommend that all international students take part in the programme.


Special features of the programme


• Airport Meet and Greet – Tuesday 25 September


• Orientation Programme – Sessions on: The British Education system; Travelling in London; Health and Safety (including registering with a doctor); Social Life in London


Additionally, there are 4 trips:


• Guided Tour of London/Covent Garden – Saturday 29 September – Price £5.00. The Guided Tour of London and Covent Garden trip will give you a view of London by coach, taking in sights such as Buckingham Palace, London Eye, Tower of London and Trafalgar Square.


• Brighton - Sunday 30 September – Price £15.00


Brighton is a seaside resort with plenty of places to eat and things to see and do. You can visit the Royal Pavillion or Brighton Pier or go shopping in The Lanes, plus many other attractions.


• Natural History Museum (travel via public transport) – Entrance free of charge. Wednesday 3 October


• Riverboat Party – Friday 5 October - Price £15.00


The Riverboat Party trip takes students down the River Thames in Central London at night. This trip has been very popular in the past. The cost includes pick up from base campuses and return journey back to halls of residence.


• Cambridge – Saturday 13 October – Price £15.00.


Be inspired by the majestic architecture, museums and art galleries that Cambridge has to offer. Explore the quaint passages set around the historic market place and colleges, where a unique shopping experience can be found. Or just relax in the many beautiful pubs, restaurants and cafés that line this city's charming streets.


The Welcome to Middlesex Orientation Programme is followed by an induction to your campus and programme of study.


Fees and Booking


You must book onto the orientation programme prior to arrival, even if you do not use the the airport pick up service. The ‘Welcome to Middlesex’ orientation programme is free of charge to all overseas students. There is a fee for some of the social activities.
