Blairsden A timeless jewel filled with stunningly opulent living spaces
PEAPACK-GLADSTONE, NEW JERSEY This famous 38-room manor was originally the legendary retreat of financier, yachtsman, and banking heir Clinton Ledyard Blair. In 1897, Blair and his wife, Florence Osborne Jennings, purchased an expanse of farmland to build their country estate. The Louis XIII–style architecture of Carrère & Hastings, blended with the sumptuous landscape design of James Leal Greenleaf, has resulted in a property that is a superb example of the Beaux Arts movement. The regal mansion still dominates its remaining 30-acre hilltop setting, which is located just 45 miles from New York City. Conceived and realized between 1898 and 1903, Blairsden was
crafted from Indiana and French limestone; ornamental copper and bronze; and magnificent interior stone, wood, and plaster finishes. The 25 fireplaces were lavished with uniquely detailed mantels. Imported
