20 QUESTIONS WITH... Leigh Jaynes

Veteran Leigh Jaynes is one of the top women’s freestyle wrestlers in the United States.

Jaynes landed a spot on the 2007 U.S. World Team and has continued to excel on the Senior level while wrestling at 55 kg/121 lbs. and 59 kg/130 lbs.

Jaynes, a New Jersey native, has made the last five U.S. National Teams.

She finished second at the U.S. Open in December and will be one of the top contenders to make the U.S. Olympic Team this year.

Jaynes wrestles for the New York Athletic Club and trains at the U.S. Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs. Jaynes, 31, placed second at the Women’s Non-Olympic

Weights World Team Trials in 2011. She started this season by placing third at the Sunkist Kids, Hargobind and New York AC international tournaments. Jaynes took time out of her busy schedule to answer 20 questions for USA Wrestler. 1. Favorite movie? Shawshank Redemption 2. Favorite TV show? Modern Family

3. What kind of music do you listen to in your iPod before you compete?

I have a gold iPod shuffle and listen to my 2012 London Playlist that has Avril Lavigne, JAX, Flo Rida, Method Man, and Pitbull just to name a few.

4. Favorite food when not watching your weight? My mother's pound cake and butter spritz cookies. 5. Favorite sport other than wrestling? Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu

6. Favorite athlete to watch in another sport? Marcelo Garcia

7. Favorite wrestler and why? Saori Yoshida, because she is the best and I want to beat her. 8. Best piece of advice you've received? Have faith - in God, in yourself, in life. That will give you exactly what you need, exactly when you need it. - Christina "Kiki" Kelley

9. What kind of advice would you give a younger wrestler who is just taking up the sport? Take risks and try everything. You will have your entire career to narrow it down and filter information. 13. How did you become involved in wrestling? I was challenged by my high school coach, Brian Bowker, to survive two weeks in the wrestling room. 14. Best part about training in Colorado Springs? Here we have the best partners, it's a hub for international teams to flow in and out. Not to mention, I live and eat for free,

19. What would it mean to make the 2012 Olympic Team? It would mean that I have a bigger opportunity to inspire the World through my experiences.

20. Funniest girl on the team and why? Adeline Gray. When I need to laugh at my life, I talk to her.
