After the Masters Indoor Championships, plans are in place to begin operation on a new roof for the fieldhouse.
With seating for 12,000, the outdoor facility has hosted everything from the 1997 NCAA Outdoor Championships to numerous Big Ten Outdoor meets. In 2011 it hosted the NCAA East Preliminary round.
And the opportunity to expand in the future is always there.
“There are some things that need to be addressed first,” Arther said of the logistics for expanding. “But it is pretty amazing when I think about where we started to where we are now. Things do happen faster than you think. It’s all basically controlled by what’s available and when it is available.”
