But we do realize there are some restrictions to what we can offer.”


Specifically, Marvin pointed out the limited number of available hotel rooms for


an event to the possible size of the USA Outdoor Championships, which were held in


Eugene, Ore., last year and Des Moines, Iowa, in 2010.


“One of our goals for all three of our facilities is to get to the level where we are considered for the NCAA and USATF Championships,” Arther said. “Moving forward we are trying to be as efficient as we are allowed to be. It is a university and we do have


24 sports here, but track and field and cross country account for six of those.”


While much of the future remains to be determined, the


USA Junior Championships appears to be an ideal fit for the city of Bloomington.


FACILITIES IN PLACE


With attractive facilities already in place, there is also the commitment surrounding IU and the city of Bloomington to


continue to develop those current track and field venues. It will utilize a pair of locations to host the three championships this year – the Robert C. Haugh Track & Field Complex for the Junior Outdoor
