NEW SPONSORS, NEW US SPEEDSKATING FOUNDATION AND AN UPDATED LOOK

FOR EVENTS By Tamara Castellano

Hello from the USS Marketing & Spon- sorship department! We are looking for- ward to an exciting 2012 and a host of new initiatives and sponsors. First we’d like to extend a warm wel-

come to our newest corporate sponsors. Symbol Arts, based in Ogden, Utah has joined the Speedskating family as our Offi- cial Awards and Recognition Sponsor (see Sponsor Spotlight about Symbol Arts). Adventure Up/Dri has become an Official Supplier of HD Cameras, providing some amazing footage of our athletes in action. We are also honored to welcome back

our longest standing partner, USANA as our Official Partner for Nutritional Sup- plements. USANA will continue to pro- vide our athletes with vitamins and other training supplements through 2014. Last but certainly not least, we also welcome back Froedtert Sports Medicine as our Official Sports Medicine Partner in Mil- waukee. Froedtert provides our athletes who train and compete at the Petit Na- tional Ice Center with the best possible medical care and training support.

New Fundraising Initiative Although sponsors provide a large

part of our annual funding and much needed value-in-kind, we have started

a new way to fundraiser to help sup- port our athletes and development pro- grams. At the Fall 2011 Board Meeting, the Board of Directors approved the for- mation of a US Speedskating Founda- tion. The Foundation will be a separate entity and will be governed by a Board of Trustees. The Foundation is being mod- eled aer the highly successful USSA Foundation. The Trustees, who will each contribute to the Foundation per- sonally, will be responsible for raising money through a variety of channels, including private donors, email dona- tion campaigns, text-to-donate pro- grams, planned giving, online auctions and donor events. The Foundation launched in late 2011

with an event in October in Park City, UT at High West Distillery and in Milwau- kee in December at a lunch at the Iron Horse Hotel. If you are interested in donating to

the foundation or you would like more information on the fundraising activi- ties, please visit their temporary home at speedskaternation.com.

A New Event Look Some of you may have noticed the new signage program that was rolled out in

Salt Lake City at the Short Track National Championships at the Utah Olympic Oval. The signage program is a key component of our new branding and of our spon- sor recognition program. Incorporating sponsor logos and the new brand, the banners create a consistent “Olympic- style” look and feel. The banners on the field-of-play are just the first step in the new overlays USS will be rolling out at our events next season. Other elements will include overhead banners, fence and bleacher wraps and a banner program for Long Track. We would like to give a shout out to

our partner, Struck, for the amazing banner designs. Finally, we’d like to express our sincere

thanks to our partners, sponsors and suppliers for their continued support of US Speedskating.
