The bridging industry bids farewell to Adrian Bloomfield who has re- signed as the chief executive of the Association of Short Term Lenders. He will remain in place “for a short period” until a new head has been found. Colin Sanders, chief execu- tive officer of Omni Capital, said: “I first met Adrian back in the 1980s and in my then young eyes, he was a very big cheese in the industry. I thank him sincerely for all he has taught me and wish him well for the future.”
Emma Hodson has been appointed as head of marketing at Bridge- bank Capital. She will be responsi- ble for all of Bridgebank’s market- ing, advertising and PR activities. She was previously the national marketing manager at Personal Debt Headline.
HANDBAG CONNOISSEUR Sarah Davidson, that relentless work(alc)aholic editor of Bridging Introducer, last month took a much needed vacation to the Arab Emirate, Dubai. Hours before she left for the notoriously opulent city Davo was wined and dined at mortgage favourite Langan’s Brasserie on London’s Piccadilly by the legend that is Mel Fordham. It was here that the boss of Essex broker Centrado
revealed his expert knowledge – not of bridging, but of Dubai and more importantly where all the handbag hotspots could be found. “The trick is to get into the back of the shops,”
Fordham told a clearly excited Davo. “You have to ask: Where’s the rest of the shop? And that will get you into the best areas.” Fordham more than impressed talking about his
vast collection of Gucci and Chanel handbags before realising the scene he was painting. “The only reason why I know of such things is because my daughter is such a big fan,” he piped up. Perhaps. Or maybe a bridge too far.
BRIDGERS DOMINATE MBE Andrew Bloom: by day, managing director of Masthaven bridging fi nance. By night? Crime fi ghter extraordinaire. At the end of 2011 Masthaven underwriters had become suspicious of a £1.5m bridging application which didn’t quite add up. Getting straight on the Dog and Bone to the authorities the City of London police then held a sting operation Bloom playing a leading role.
Bloom arranged a meeting at a Mariott hotel with the suspects and an undercover police offi cer disguised as his PA.
The case is ongoing. THIS ISN’T THE BRIDGE YOU’RE LOOKING FOR
United Trust Bank has recruited Gerard Morgan Jackson to its bridging sales team. Jackson will be responsible for growing the bridging department database. He was previously at Tiuta.
