The Hall of Fame

Those crazy L&C kids The HoF hears word that those crazy kids at Bath-based London & Country not only know how to let their hair down and party but also how to incentivise staff to peak performance. Taking a leaf out of Mortgage Introducer’s very own Hall of Fame it seems staff at the brokerage are all keen to get their hands on the red carpet treatment. “The latest award was that of a ‘red carpet’,” one mole told the HoF. “This was awarded as spe- cial recognition of outstanding effort over the years. The carpet is now resplendent under the individual’s desk, although apparently the deep synthetic pile is causing some issues with the chair’s wheels.” In years gone by those that achieved a certain

level of performance were upgraded to a leather upholstered chair. “A failure to maintain the required level could see the dreaded reinstatement of a chair upholstered in mere textile,” our mole added. Talk about itchy and scratchy.

MoonPhoon.com

Mortgage Introducer and BI editor Sarah Davidson celebrated her 28th birthday in February. Alas mighty MI reporter Yuan Phoon couldn’t let it pass without de- livering his own special card for the clearly delighted Davidson. “A store bought card just wouldn’t convey the passionate feelings that I feel for her,” Phoon told the HoF. “Besides, there was not a chance MI associate publisher Matt Bond would stick his hand in his pocket – the man’s tighter than a drum FFS! – so I had to improvise. Matt saw the MoonPig.com advert but rather than splash the cash thought we could do one better.” Clearly, the P45 must be winging its way to Yuan very soon.

Not so City blue

It didn’t take long for MI associate publisher and once hardcore Man City fan Matt Bond to switch allegiances. Here he is pictured outside Gucci in London’s West End with Arsenal striker Robin Van Persie.

“He was like a dog begging for a bone when he asked for his picture,” MI publisher Robyn Hall told the HoF. “His jaw dropped and he was salivating at the mouth.”

Ten lucky brokers are about to hit the big time when they high roll it to Las Vegas courtesy of those nice chaps at West One Loans. To be eligible brokers must complete at least one loan by March 31, 2012. If chosen via the random prize draw the group – including five staff from West One – will be flown out and spend three nights at the Bel- lagio hotel, famous for its high limits, high rolling poker rooms.

The prize includes

premium economy return flights as well as entry to conferences and semi- nars laid on by West One. “In total there will be fifteen of us going,” West One chairman Duncan Kreeger told the HoF. “I’m thinking of dubbing the trip Ocean’s Fifteen!”

Magnifi cent Monty

Andrew Montlake of London- based broker Coreco fame steps into the Hall of Fame this month for being the lucky charm behind last month’s dramatic and nail biting Carling Cup final – and taking Mortgage Introducer publisher Robyn Hall along with him. The prestigious tournament saw Liverpool clash with Cardiff at London’s Wembley stadium. The Scousers were favourites to walk all over the

Welsh side but it seemed the weight of expectation was too much for the North West side to carry. After much to-ing and fro-ing the score ended up 1-1 taking it into extra time and despite a quick lead for Liverpool a late goal from Cardiff in the dying minutes took the game to penalties. “The last time Monty and I went to a Liverpool final it was the 2007 Champions League when we lost 2-1 to AC Milan so the omens weren’t looking good,” a jubilant Hall told the HoF. “When it went to penalties and Gerrard missed the opener I thought the curse has struck again. Yet Monty’s magical charm seemed to do the trick and we ended the day 3-2.” Monty, the HoF salutes you.
