Helps Fund Her Scholarship M
eet Mackenzie R. Mousouleas, a freshman from Woodhaven. A pre-occupational therapy
major, Mackenzie represents her fam- ily’s EMU legacy. Her grandmother, Patricia Johnston (BS74), graduated from EMU. “I’m proud to be a legacy and appreciate EMU for its small class sizes, just as my grandmother did,” says Mackenzie. “It allows for more one- on-one time with the professors and a chance to ask questions during class.” As a legacy, Mackenzie was eligible
to apply for an Alumni Association Scholarship. Not only did she ap- ply, she received the scholarship and is now a representative of the Alumni Association throughout campus. In December 2011, she assisted the Alumni Association Board of Directors as they welcomed new graduates at the Commencement ceremony. Mackenzie saw first-hand the importance of the Alumni Association and a preview of her own EMU graduation experience. To be like Mackenzie—connected to the
