Calculating your Heat Requirement
Once you’ve chosen your style of radiator, calculate the heat output required for the room using the following steps:
Step 1
Multiply the room height (ft) x width (ft) x length (ft) to get the volume in cubic feet
Step 2
Multiply the volume by 5 to get the required BTUs
Step 3
Add 10% for entrance halls and kitchens. Reduce by 10% for upstairs rooms
To obtain the Watts required divide the BTU figure by 3.412. All our radiators will show the heat output in BTUs and Watts. If the exact BTU is not listed, always choose the next size up if available. This is a guide to help you calculate the heat output required for your room. If you require a specific heat output for a given room, or are unsure, we recommend that you consult your local heating engineer to confirm the exact heat output requirements for the room.
