TRANCE don Ferry Corsten teamed up with drinks brand Olmeca Tequila a while back to try to unearth some of the next generation of DJ/producers. And now the results of this innovative hook-up can be revealed to the world. The process was whittled down to ten fi nalists before the outright winner was selected. “I am really excited to be working with Olmeca Tequila on this project,” said Ferry. “This is a fantastic opportunity and I am sure it will inspire the next generation of young DJs to pursue their passion for music.”


All nine of the fi nalists’ efforts are showcased here – testimony to the high standard of productions that came from this next generation of DJ/producers. The winner has just been announced, and it is Max Fishler from Russia. He will now open Ferry Corsten’s club-night in Ibiza – one of the biggest nights on the sacred White Isle.


For the competition, aspiring DJ/producers could visit a specially constructed website — http://olmecatequila.com/bethedj - and download the Ferry Corsten track written exclusively for Olmeca, ‘Check This Out (5AM Remix)’. The parts were available for the track, and budding DJ/producers were then required to do a remix.


After the fi nalists were selected, they were invited to a special production school in Rotterdam, Holland. After taking some tips from Ferry himself, Ferry observed different producers at work remixing their track, and he gave them detailed feedback on their productions during and after the production session.


As production is now an integral part of choosing DJing as a career, this process has ensured that quality production is a part of this new generation of talent’s skill-set. Max Fishler entered the competition to ‘Be The DJ’ – and now he is!
