Anno adds new flame retardant
American nano Silicon Technologies (Anno) has announced that it is commercialising a propri- etary flame retardant at its new expanded facility in nanchong, china. The company said that it began limited production of the additive on 2 January 2012, and it is confident that it will be able to fully launch the product this year. it says that the flame
retardant technology is based on aluminium hydroxide powder and it has been developed alongside dr wang Yuzhong, profes- sor of polymer science and engineering at Sichuan university and honorary president of china’s Flame retardant Society. Back in 2010, Anno
announced that it was planning to a launch a “non-halogen phosphate flame retardant” based on its “micro nano silicon” technology, which is used in concrete and detergents. ❙

The deal gives Teknor Apex
exclusive marketing rights in north America for pVc formulations with Ecolibrium in several applications areas such as consumer and industrial products, certain medical devices, automotive components and select wire and cable products. Teknor Apex plans to
commercialize flexible pVc compounds incorporating Ecolibrium this year and will introduce the new formulations at the npE 2012 exhibition in orlando, Florida, in April. dow says that Ecolibrium is
made from “virtually 100% renewable feedstocks”. The additive provides an alternative to phthalate plasticizers as well as providing oEms with
