This is the second of the two great canals on your itinerary, known by the nickname “The Highway to India.” The Suez opened in 1869 after 10 years of construction, and links the Red Sea and the Mediterranean.

Bahia Fort, a UNESCO World Heritage Site built in the 13th and 14th centuries, is a must on any visit to Muscat. You may also want to visit attractions such as the Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque or Qurum National Park.
7–8 April OVERNIGHT DUBAI, UNITED ARAB EMIRATES
An overnight in extravagant Dubai gives you ample time to explore such landmarks as “The World,” a stunning cluster of 300 man-made islands offshore built in approximately the shape of the earth — or the tallest building on earth, the amazing Burj Khalifa.
14 April AQABA, JORDAN (FOR PETRA)
From the port of Aqaba, you’ll set out for one of the world’s great sites of antiquity — the “Lost City” of Petra. Pass through a narrow canyon gorge to discover an entire city carved from the red sandstone mountains.
15 April SHARM EL SHEIKH, EGYPT
The resort city of Sharm el Sheikh is all about natural splendours. With crystal waters and thriving reefs, it’s one of the world’s greatest dive spots. The old town of Na’ama Bay is also enchanting.
16 April MAIDEN CALL
