A RESORT TO REVIVE YOUR SPIRITS
NEWQUAY ! discover Huers Hut, Newquay more than just a beach
TAke a fresh look at Newquay As Cornwall’s leading seaside resort the vast array of beaches in Newquay will strike you first. Laid out like a necklace of sandy pearls at the foot of rugged cliffs there are eight different beaches within walking distance of the town and four more a short drive away - all of them with golden sand and Atlantic breakers and each of them offering a different beach experience for every day of your stay. Life at the edge of the sea includes Newquay’s harbour. As well as being one of the nation’s favourite holiday resorts, Newquay remains an important Cornish fishing port and a trip to the harbour is a must on your “things to do” list. Today, as well as fishing trips and excursions, Newquay’s fleet of brightly
coloured fishing boats lands fresh crab and lobster destined for the dinner plates of nearby hotels and restaurants, but it wasn’t always this way. Look up from the Harbour and you’ll see the Huers Hut – a white stone
building on top of Towan Head. Pilchards were once dish of the day here. When the shoals of Pilchards where spotted off the cliffs the Huer would call the fishermen to sea and a lucrative catch.

On September 6th - 8th 2013 the town celebrates it’s fishing heritage with the Newquay Fish Festival – a three day feast of everything that’s fresh from the sea and well worth a visit.
