The Assistant Professor of Ship Design contributes to the section’s educational offerings in both the master and bachelor programmes. She or he is expected to develop and deliver lectures in both Dutch and English and to provide instruction and exercises. Coaching and supervising graduating students is an additional aspect of the educational duties. An important part of the work consists of developing and conducting research projects. The Assistant Professor will be involved in the coming years with establishing and expanding the Ship Design Laboratory, for which the foundation has already been laid by a number of research and development projects conducted for and in cooperation with the shipbuilding industry. This “laboratory” forms an important basis for educational applications and for further research into new design methods and innovative ship concepts.
