The Role
The Naval Systems Group analyses the requirements of new naval ship programmes, translating them into integrated propulsion system solutions. As a Marine Engineer you will use your technical and domain knowledge to develop and promote power and propulsion systems for new opportunities, and enable the marketing and sale of products through a systems approach.
Rolls-Royce has a portfolio of successful ship designs for the Offshore and Merchant sectors. We are increasing our capability to offer similar designs for the global Naval/Coast Guard market. As a Naval Architect you will capture and analyse customer requirements and translate these into winning designs, making optimum use of the Rolls-Royce marine product portfolio. You will be involved from concept to detailed design through to Main Class Approval level.
Experience
Degree qualified in a relevant technical discipline, with experience in ship power and propulsion or naval architecture, you will have an understanding of ship and propulsor hydrodynamics, prime movers and other system components. You will have a keen interest in the marine industry and have achieved, or be progressing towards, Chartered Engineer status. Good analytical, presentation and persuasion skills, customer focus and the ability to work within a team are also a must. On occasions you will also be required to travel, both domestically and internationally. You must have, or be eligible for, full UK security clearance.

Experience
You will need to be a member of a recognised professional body (such as the Royal Institution of Naval Architects) and be familiar with flag, class and naval rules. An appreciation of technology trends in modern navies and of new concepts in naval defence is required, along with a proven track record in the design of naval vessels.
