ANNUALS

GERANIUM, ZONAL (Pelargonium x hortorum) 6,000s.

L 14-21 days 72˚F

Bottom heat of 72-74˚F is necessary for even germination. Monitor soil temperature and main- tain even moisture with warm water. Grow on at 62˚F night temperature. Provide maximum light to prevent stretching. Night lighting with cool white fl uorescent lights for 4 weeks after transplanting will hasten fl owering. Apply growth regulators, Cycocel (1,500 ppm = 1-3/4 tsp. per gallon) or Bonzi® (20 ppm = 4 tsp. per gallon), twice – 35 days after germination and again 2-3 weeks later. After buds appear, lower night temperatures to 55˚F to increase bloom size. Sow 14-16 weeks prior to sales. See perennial varieties on page 72.
