between ablation, coagulation and heating for the treatment of a wide range of skin texture conditions. It causes more dermal contraction followed by neocollagenesis, and less epidermal disruption compared with ablative approaches. Therefore, this approach not only enables treatment of all skin types, but also minimises possible side-effects, such as post- inflammatory hyperpigmentation (PIH), and reduces patients’ downtime. The Sublative treatment promotes the desired biological responses leading to a better organised and ‘younger’ dermal matrix.

Sublative treatment on skin tissue

is effective to a skin depth of 150– 200 micron, thereby limiting the effect almost exclusively to the epidermis and papillary dermis.

Sublime

The Sublime applicator addresses both skin laxity and rhytides. The basis for Sublime is elōs technology, which combines broadband IR light (700–2000 nm) and bipolar RF, therefore achieving bulk dermal tissue heating. The IR was shown to stimulate collagen synthesis, while the RF causes immediate breaking of hydrogen bonds in the collagen triple helix, leading to contraction and resulting in the immediate and long-term improvement of wrinkles and facial contour.

Since the Sublative effect is

achieved as a result of ablation, coagulation and heating of the skin, the applicators achieve their goals while treating at different depths and combining both fractional and non-fractional treatment at these depths. This combined treatment allows for the presence of stimulated viable cells that participate in the wound healing process.

Benefits to patients eTwo patients benefit from a short treatment protocol. Most patients will have between three to five sessions, typically 3–4 weeks apart. The best results are seen 3–6 months after completion, with maintenance every 6 months. Patients will witness

Sublime

Collagen and elastin depletion in the dermis result in the loss of dermal volume, creating laxity and sagging of the skin. Sublime™ uses the elōs combination of safe and effective levels of infrared light and bi-polar RF energies to remodel the deep dermal layer of the skin by stimulating new collagen growth, promoting a tighter appearance of the skin. Controlled, predictable, deep dermal heating of the deep dermis both stimulates and shortens aged collagen fibres, resulting in the immediate and long-term improvement of wrinkles and facial contour. Initially, there is an immediate contraction of existing collagen fibres, but with time, the laxity of the brow, jowls, neck and cheek areas are expected to improve as a result of the collagen remodelling response.

Sublative

Sublative™ is a fractionated bi-polar radio frequency technology, representing a new category in skin treatments for all skin types. Placing the heat energy effectively into the upper dermis, the treatment produces a significant increase in both collagen and elastin with minimal epidermal disruption. Furthermore, minimal damage to the epidermis means limited risk of post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation (PIH). The ergonomic applicator, delivers bipolar radio frequency energy via a matrix of electrodes in the disposable ‘Sublative iD’ tip. This fractional delivery of radio frequency energy causes micro-epidermal ablative injuries with wider-spread dermal coagulation. This initiates a strong wound healing response in the dermal matrix, while also minimising the damage to the epidermis. Less affected tissue surrounding the matrix points may be stimulated by heat which helps accelerate the healing process, leading to a smoother, rejuvenated appearance of the skin.

gradual and cumulative results. The total number of required treatment sessions depends on the patient’s skin condition. By uniting two proven technologies,

the eTwo offers a synergistic effect for optimal results. Both Sublime and Sublative treatments are accompanied by a very low risk of side-effects and minimal down time. They have both yielded high efficacy and patient satisfaction. ‘By using both applications in the same treatment session, one can achieve complete rejuvenation including skin tightening and wrinkle reduction, especially increased tissue tightening in the jowl area and wrinkle reduction near the eyes,’ stated Michael Gold, MD, Board Certified Dermatologist, Nashville, Tennessee.
