Peer Review

Submission Guidelines Submission Categories

All papers published in the IJMC will be approved only after a rigorous peer review process. The editorial peer review board represents three international metalcasting groups: academia (metalcasting professors); science and research (personnel from national labs, research and scientific institutions); and industry (leading technical personnel from metalcasting facilities).

Paper Submission

Publication and dissemination of technical information is one of the greatest contributions that can be made to the continued health and advancement of metalcasting. The IJMC is dedicated to leading the transfer of research and technology to the global metalcasting industry. The IJMC accepts paper submissions at any time. Potential authors should submit a completed “Offer of Paper” form, signifying the intent to submit a paper. All papers should be submitted electronically through the IJMC website, by CD-ROM or by email (journal@afsinc.org). The Author’s Guide, available on the IJMC website, provides details on format, submission, peer review and acceptance criteria.

The IJMC publishes technical papers and reports in four broad categories:

1. Technical papers: Full technical papers, providing details of metalcasting research, footnoted and referenced in traditional technical writing style.

2. Technical Development Report: A Technical Development Report describes work in progress, dealing with new areas of technology development and early stage research. These papers typically discuss research that is in the beginning stages, has not yet reached full conclusion and perhaps will require further developments and testing to define the potential benefit of the research. Technical Development Reports are intended to keep industry appraised of new and breaking research in the field of metalcasting technology while that research is in progress and not yet completed. Both abstract and paper are required.

3. Technical Communication: This paper, similar to a “letter to the editor,” allows readers to respond to a technical paper published in the journal, by submitting a reader response that further explores or expands the technology discussed in a published paper. The Technical Communication allows readers to interact with the authors to help stimulate further discussion and contribute to the direction of on-going research.

4. Technical Update: Publication of a technical paper in IJMC does not necessarily indicate the completion of the research that is the subject of the paper. The technical update provides follow-up material or additional data from the original author of a previously published research. The original paper will be summarized and clearly cited.

Citation/Research Databases Importance

Research/Citation databases provide a plat- form for scholarly peer-reviewed materials that are unbiased, current and accurate–a level of quality not reached by solely searching the internet. Research/Citation databases also are used to evaluate the scientific performance of authors. The IJMC continues to strive to be the global leader in transfer and dissemination of research and technology for the global met- alcasting industry. It is also important that our authors have the best platform to present their work and that our readers are being presented the best information available. That is why we will continue to pursue the widest coverage for our product. Being selected by the following databases for indexing is a testament to the quality of the journal, our editorial review board and our contributing authors.
