Celebrating our Successes: Volunteer and Chapter Awards
The Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation of Canada is not one person, one community or one Chapter but a
collection of volunteers united across the country working toward one goal. Over the past year, we have seen volunteers demonstrate excellence and innovation in so many ways, and we acknowledge those who have achieved extraordinary results at our annual volunteer Congress in October. We are delighted to announce the following outstanding volunteers and Chapters for each three population categories.
The dedication of the strong volunteers in these Chapters and their commitment to excellence is what enables us to grow and innovate as an organization with a BIG mission – to find the cure.

The Unsung Hero Award recognizes the efforts of individual CCFC volunteers who play a vital role “behind the scenes” to support our mission to find the cure
This year’s Unsung Hero is Dave Clark of Whistler, BC
Eight years ago, Dave married Wendy, the love of his life. They had many wonderful trips together: to Maui, to Europe, to Las Vegas, to Argentina, to hospitals, to doctors ... because Wendy has Crohn’s disease.
Realizing that the best hope for Wendy was to find a cure for Crohn’s disease, nine years ago Dave ran a 56-kilometer race around Lake Cowichan, BC and raised over $12,000 for CCFC.
For the love of Wendy (and now for their five-year-old son Ryan), Dave continues to raise money for CCFC through various means, including the Canadian National BBQ Championships in Whistler, BC. To date, the BBQ has raised over $41,000 for CCFC. In 2011, Dave created The North Face Whistler Half Marathon and raised over $7,000 for CCFC in its first sold-out year.
