In The News Thank you for supporting National Family Dinner Night!

Thanks to your web clicks and your promise to have a family dinner together, M&M Meat Shops donated $58,741 to CCFC for IBD research through the National Family Dinner Night on September 15. After seven years of families spending time together on National Family Dinner Night, the program has raised over $100,000. We look forward to enjoying dinner with you again next year!

New online and mobile resources available

CCFC now hosts links to provincial physician directories on its Helpful Links page under the About IBD tab at ccfc.ca. Most of these directories list physicians by specialty as well as location, so they are useful resources for finding a gastroenterologist.

Teens and parents dealing with Crohn’s and colitis now have a mobile app that will help them manage their disease and seek help sooner if something is wrong.

myIBD is a free app developed for Toronto’s Hospital for Sick Children to help patients track their pain, food, stool and frequency of bathroom visits on their mobile devices. It also provides access to educational tools and the latest information on managing their symptoms. It is available at iTunes for iPhones, iPad and the iPod touch and will be available for Android devices later this year.

Board member Amanda Coe of Victoria, BC spends part of her winters in Arizona. But she doesn’t leave CCFC behind when she’s there! “Gutsy” was taken, but Amanda was still proud to personalize her Arizona license plate to mark her commitment to the cause.

Also available for free at iTunes is Gi BodyGuard, an app that allows IBD patients to track the activities of their gastrointestinal system to report to their healthcare specialist. Developed by the Canadian Digestive Health Foundation (CDHF), Gi BodyGuard allows information to be easily shared with a doctor, pharmacist and other healthcare providers during an appointment or by emailing a self-generating summary in advance of an appointment.

And don’t forget about Can’t Wait, CCFC’s own free bathroom finder app. Users have entered more than 1,700 bathrooms to date, and counting! The more bathrooms you add, the more useful this app is for people who need to find a bathroom in a hurry. Visit cantwait.ca for more information.
