Drive down nearly any road and you’ll see discarded


plastic bags and bottles. It doesn’t matter where you live, you’ll see plastic trash. Take Kamilo Beach in Hawaii, for example. No roads go to Kamilo. You have to drive an hour over jagged volcanic rocks to get there.


You might think this remote beach would have lots of clean sand. Yet it’s covered with old bottles, laundry baskets, toothbrushes, toys, and other plastic trash. Ocean currents carried all this stuff across the Pacific Ocean.
