> Your Nose Knows. If you can smell the cabinets now, it’s likely that they are off gassing toxins such as urea formaldehyde. Purchase brands that minimize the use of toxic resins or stains.
> Full Disclosure. Choose a company that can tell you where its wood is harvested and what chemicals are found in its finishes.
> High and Dry. The back or bottom of cabinets must be kept from direct contact with the back wall or floor to prevent mold growth. Installing rust resistant metal feet is one easy way to get the job done.
