Save a life
St John Cymru-Wales has developed the Young Lifesaver Scheme to help you teach first aid skills to all children aged seven to 16. They’ll learn vital lifesaving skills as well as the value of teamwork and how to make decisions, which increases self-confidence.
The scheme includes everything you need – lesson plans, specially designed worksheets, games and activities – to make learning First Aid fun.

Reading with Sam
A new teaching aid for primary schools was launched at the National Eisteddfod in Wrexham this summer. Darllen gyda Sam (Reading with Sam) is a multi- platform teaching resource that makes learning the Welsh language attractive and fun.
The resource uses a narrative based on a character, Sam, to improve vocabulary. It combines traditional teaching with on-screen media to teach new words and phrases, enabling pupils to become more confident in reading Welsh.
There are five story books in each of three sets, and a multimedia CD Rom with animations bringing the character to life.

A pen of his own…
In March a group representing the Penarth and District Lesotho Trust visited Teyteyaning in the south African country. Most of the group were retired NUT members.
The NUT Cymru office donated pens to give to the children in Teyteyaning, and these were very well received. The pupils used them to write letters to primary school children in the Penarth area.
