OUR Top 100 DJs awards have caused a bit of a stir this year, haven’t they? To put it mildly… The trance family is outraged that their man Armin is no longer at the top, while others are appalled that there are no female DJs in the Top 100 chart. Remember, people: the Top 100 DJs poll is a PUBLIC VOTE. DJmag itself didn’t decide this list, or omit anybody on purpose at all. We didn’t produce this chart, it was all decided by the votes of the international clubbing fraternity – 600,000 of you, in still the most defi nitive dance music poll there is.

DAVE SEAMAN HELMS THE ‘MASTERS SERIES’
ALONG with Sasha, Dave Seaman is a still-current international DJ who has had perhaps the longest-standing association with infl uential, long-running club brand Renaissance. It was a relationship that began when Renaissance — inspired by the roadblock of Shelley’s down the road — launched in Mansfi eld with the slogan ‘The Restoration of Sasha To The North’. The DJ who would play when Sasha wasn’t around was Dave Seaman, and he has maintained a relationship with Renaissance ever since – the brand morphing into a large events company and record label specializing in credible underground dance compilations.
A decade ago Dave Seaman helmed Renaissance’s ‘Masters Series’, and here he is back again – the perfect person to relaunch the Renaissance series. Including tracks from cats as diverse as Boys Noize, Moby, Sasha and Layo & Bushwacka, it’s a diverse blend of fresh and otherwise buried gems.
