Introduction to work based qualifications

Vocational Qualifications are qualifications which are structured to recognise the individual’s competence or ability to do their job to the required standard. They are developed by representatives from leading groups within the specific industry sectors and must be approved by the UK’s National Council for Vocational qualifications.

A Vocational Qualification requires people to gather evidence of their skills and competencies from their everyday work rather than or in addition to the more traditional exams or courses. All Vocational Qualifications delivered by QQI are relevant to SCQF diagram attached.
