Bruce Smith - Founder of SeaScape Kayak Tours Winner of the 2010 Environmental Lifetime Achievement Award

I love introducing people to wild places and helping them feel comfortable and reach their potential on the water... and the Curu Wildlife Refuge is the perfect place to share my passion for paddling, outdoor education and special marine environments. Seascape began as an outgrowth of my passion for paddling and a desire to share special marine environments with others. We have a unique opportunity to provide visitors with an understanding and awareness of our oceans as a precious resource. This will lead to participants helping to protect these special places.

5. MIRACULOUS CARTAGO Fly back to San José en route to Turrialba. Make a pilgrimage to Cartago this morning, home to the Basilica de Nuestra Señora de Los Angeles; inside is a shrine to the tiny carved figure of La Negrita, who is believed to have miraculous healing powers. Found on this spot in 1635, the statuette now resides on a jewel-studded platform at the main altar of this Byzantine-styled church. Next up is a hike on the lunar landscapes
